Brilliant modernity paired with watercolor fluorite.
Wearable art from nature. This is a very rare pair of earrings as they're made from 20 million year old petrified wood from Indonesia. The wood has opalized to create this magnificent gemstone specimen. These feel like gemstones feel, not like wood.
I have placed them with faceted fluorite 14k gold filled wire. As shown on 14k leverback earwires these are about 2”. I love the contrast of gold and blue/green .
If you desire the LEVERBACK earwires shown you must choose the upgrade. The default is French ball hook earrings.
How was this formed?
Indonesia is a volcanic island chain that is currently active and this volcanic activity produces a wide array of unusual minerals and rocks. When wood is buried by volcanic ash and silica is mobilized from the ash, the silica will penetrate into the wood and replace the grains of the wood. Opal is a hydrated silica.
This is a one of a kind piece and a rare material.
Your earrings will arrive beautifully giftboxed.
