I was so thrilled to find a strand of natural golden rutilated quartz at a vendor's showroom recently. It is so interesting to look into the stones and see what's going on.
This necklace is a part of a collection featuring this rare stone and is cut and faceted into a teardrop shape. I have wired it with sterling silver on a sterling silver chain with sterling silver lobster clasp closure and ring.

What Is Rutilated quartz?? Quartz which contains acicular (needle-like) inclusions of rutile. These inclusions mostly look golden, but they also can look silver, copper red or deep black. They can be distributed randomly or in bundles, which sometimes are arranged star-like, and they can be sparse or dense enough to make the quartz body nearly opaque. While otherwise inclusions often reduce the value of a crystal, rutilated quartz in fact is valued for the quality and beauty of these inclusions.
